The Jerusalem Studio School is pleased to announce an upcoming screening of the film “Balthus: Through the Looking Glass,” produced by Olivier Gal and written and directed by Damian Pettigrew. Israel Hershberg, Artistic Director of JSS, will present the film at 8 pm on Sunday, November 8 at the International Cultural Centre for Youth (ICCY) in the German Colony, Jerusalem, 12 Emek Refa’im Street.

Following the screening, Hershberg will present two short additional chapters: “Three Balthusian Lessons” and “Tea Time at the Grand Chalet.” He will also share images of Balthus’ work as well as photos taken during his visit to the Balthus home at Montecalvello in Umbria, Italy, which also appears in the film. These photos of Montecalvello, together with Balthus’ landscape of the same title, provide a fascinating glimpse into his world and his aesthetic.

The event is open to the public with a voluntary donation at the door for the philanthropic efforts of JSS. Refreshments will be available.
